Creating a project

You can create a new project by selecting 'New project' from the 'Projects' main menu. Following information is required:

• Name
• Start time

Additionally you can give following information:

• Description
• Calendar to be used
• Risk calculation rule (requires MonteCrystal plan), which determines how risk affected cost and duration are calculated for project tasks. You can set rule to tasks when editing the project. Following options are available:
  • 'Risks not calculated'. Risks do not affect task cost or duration.
  • 'Expected value of risks'. Expected values of assigned risks' cost and duration are added to planned cost and duration.
  • 'All risks'. Assigned risks' cost and duration impacts are added as such to planned cost and duration. Probabilities are not considered.
• Default probability distribution for project's tasks (requires simulation plan)
• Number of simulation rounds (requires simulation plan)

Finally click on the 'Create project' button.

If you don't set calendar at project creation, a default calendar will be used. If default calendar doesn't exist, user's first calendar is used.

Tasks inherit project calendar. However, you can also assign a different calendar at task creation.
