In task edit form different rules can be set for calculating planned task start times in MonteCarloProject. Alternative rules are described below.
- Automatic: task planned start time is set equal to the maximum of predecessors' planned end times. This rule is useful when all predecessors must be finished before task can start and there are no other constraints for the start time. In other words task starts immediately after finishing the predecessor tasks.
- Flexible: task planned start time cannot be earlier than the maximum of predecessors' planned end times. This rule is useful when all predecessors must be finished before task can start but there can be other constraints for the start time. In other words task can also start at some later time.
- Manual: task planned start time is set manually. This rule is useful when task does not necessarily have to wait for the predecessors to finish. In other words task can also start earlier.
